Getting Ready To Shop Fort Worth!

Have you heard?  Fort Worth has a great group of Indie artists that will have a great even this coming Saturday-- I won't be selling there, sadly, but I will be attending and checking out all the 100% handmade goodies that will be on display.

Help Save our "Harri"-- Harriet 40% off Sale

Harrilu (and muttsywonder- my Etsy shop) is named after my dog, Harriet (and a small sister Pippa Lou). We are trying to raise funds as quickly as possible to pay for some very steep vet bills. We are trying to get her to stabilize so the drugs that the doctor have given her (which take time to work-- sometimes as much as 2-3 weeks) can kick in and she can finally recover. On Friday I came home to a listless, very ill Harriet. This was so unusual since she's been a robust, peppy little dog from the get-go. Shocked by her state, we rushed her to the Emergency Vet Clinic. After 2 Transfusions, and what seems to be countless moments at death's door later, we have made it through the weekend only to transfer her to a Diagnostician and their hospital. We are waiting for all the results, but they believe it is IMHA - an immune disease where the white blood cells suddenly attack and kill off the red blood cells-- leaving her organs gasping for oxygen and potentially shutting down her system. The drugs they put them on are cancer drugs-- to suppress the white blood cells, as well as steroids. It takes about a month for red blood cells to be created by the bone marrow-- so this is truly a waiting game. The vet warned us that she may need additional transfusions and more treatments to get her through the next couple of weeks.

We are now trying to scrape up enough to pay for the existing bill from today-- but then we don't know how we're going to pay to help her in the future.  If you like my stuff then I hope you'll  take advantage of this amazing sale and help us save our furry little loved one.

We're heading down to Austin because Renegade Craft Fair is coming to TEXAS!
May 15th & 16th at The Palmer Events Center from 11am-7pm

I'm so excited - I have been to many of these events-- which are held in high regard by all vendors and shoppers in every corner of the country-- from Brooklyn, Chicago, San Francisco and LA. Renegade always puts on an amazing show-- and I definitely wouldn't miss this one!!

These folks pull together a very diverse and talented bunch of artists and designers featuring unique crafts and handiworks that are pretty special. I'm always having to stop myself from spending what we earn at these events-- so many unique and well-made items. And, they pull together a well run event that is definitely more than shopping !

This time, they'll have the super wonderful Austin Craft Mafia, Etsy, Stitch Lab, Public School and WonderCraft all offering interactive booths from photography to textile related crafts. Music from KVRX, the Minor Mishap Marching Band, and Shotgun Party! There will also be an amazing raffle- (did I mention TONS AND TONS of great shopping?)

Wine on the Roof May 8th

Check out Wine On the Roof "Stars of the Silver Screen” fashion show, emceed by Channel 33 meteorologist Rebecca Miller, will showcase adoptable pets in hand-made outfits by local fashion designers. I'm providing what I believe to be the most frou-frou outfit I have ever created-- all in honor of Lauren Bacall--  All profits will benefit the East Lake Pet Orphanage-- http://www.elpo.org

In addition to the fashion show, there will be a raffle, and a silent auction with tons of amazing items to bid on. Also on hand, the recipient of the John LaBella award-Texas singer, author, politician and animal advocate Kinky Friedman.

Time Flies! Stuff Coming Soon!!

I'm fast and furiously working on new items for Spring & beyond for my websites-- I'll be posting this soon on my front page-- I'm in the midst of new childrens and womens designs as we speak!

My process for new items is a long one! I start by just letting my brain go numb and then I sketch, and doodle, redo it all, and keep going. I eventually stop and look back at my pages and pages of stuff and then pull them into the computer-- clean them up, play with them, etc-- then I print them out again at the scale I think I want and get playing with my mannequin. Once I have the art layed out, I have to find out how I'm going to print it and then I go to colors. I spend hours mixing and mixing colors, testing them, and then finally I try printing something for a test. Here's when I walk away and then come back to it-- take photos and if I still like it, then I put it up on my site for everyone to see! That's all before I start producing or selling anything. Whew. You get the idea. I wish it was faster and I was better at it all, but I guess without my process I would be lost!

So, keep your eyes peeled. New stuff IS coming. New styles of womens & childrens, new colors, new designs. I hope you like some of it!

I'm back from Minnesota & running around trying to fill orders, respond to emails, and follow up on some things. I had a lot of fun in Minnesota-- it was wonderful seeing folks I'd met in past years, and of course, it would not be the same without seeing family & friends! I came home with a bag of loot from tons of great vendors like Papered Together, Fiery Lion Designs, Crafty Planet, Stitches4Bitches,Hezzamade, Jennie the Potter, CosmosCollars, and Cricket Syndicate (and lots more! I love wearing this with a boyfriend blazer or a cardigan-- looks really fun and a nice pop of color-- with a perfect neckline for chunky jewelry, I think!

Hey! Well we made it back from Renegade-- and had a lot of fun! I love going to Renegade shows-- so many of the vendors are so talented, I feel more creative just being near them ;)! I came back with a ton of goodies & a big wish list-- so I know I have to plan on doing some more shopping too.

Thanks to everyone who came out to meet us! We had a ball. The weather could not have been nicer & I have to say I love Chicago. And, their pizza too!
